Final Piece- Kate Hutchinson (SCA)

Materials: electrical wire, light globes, shrink wrap, battery and battery pack.

'Circuit'

End Point Statement- Kate Hutchinson (SCA)

I have now produced a necklace that resembles and operates as an electrical circuit.

Having finished my piece, I am happy with how it turned out- everything just fell into place (something that rarely happens for me. Although I didn’t use the particular material I was given, I chose to base my ideas closely around it, while still in relation to the text.

I felt that through this project we were given a lot of space for ideas to evolve and change, and through this I was able to produce something that I probably wouldn’t have thought of under ‘normal’ circumstances.

So, at this stage I have decided on making an electric circuit that can be worn as a necklace- the idea coming from looking at the circumstances of electricity and how it works.

After gathering the required materials over the weekend- which might I say wasnt as easy as I thought it would be- I have started to make an electric circuit, involving nine light bulbs, some electric wiring and a battery (this all being new to me, as I’ve never made anything involving  electricty before). The circuit is not fully constructed yet, but works when tested with battery pack.

Beginning Statement- Kate Hutchinson (SCA)

Having both my text (“circumstantial”) and material (electrical wire) now, I have started to look at how they relate to each other and can be used together to produce soemthing wearable.

At the moment I am lookng into electrical circuits and the circumstances of electricity, that is, what makes electricity work, what is the electricity going to produce, what produces the electric current etc.
