Final Statement-Selena Xu

After finished the whole piece, I tied up the black ribbon on the cross. As shown in the pictures, they didn’t work very well together. So I decided to give up the ribbon.
I burnished the red beads as suggested by Peter and Kelly, and made some scars on them. Also, I painted some of them with golden and red color, so they will became more corresponding with the theme, and matching to the cross even better. Most importantly, I truly made the necklace my own as the red beads turned to be unique and nobody can get them from any store.

Mid-Point Statement-Selena Xu

I got a copper cross full of scars.
In order to represent the many meanings I used different colors: The black scars on the cross means the sins people have, one side of the cross is gold which means endureth, while the other side is red stands for blood means sacrifice, and the white pearl represents a new pure world.
The whole meaning of my work: Lord sacrified his own body to save us from our sin, this as a gift from the Lord, and give us a bright future. As a return, we give our thanks to the lord, I tied the ribbon bowknot on the cross as a gift for his good, mercy endureth for ever.
